Definitions of ‘Audacity’?

In English, the word ‘audacity’ is a noun meaning ‘a willingness to take bold risks’.

The definition also has variants such as: ‘daring spirit’, ‘resolution’, ‘confidence’, ‘venturesomeness’, but also extends to a rude or disrespectful behaviour, impudence insolent boldness, especially when imprudent or unconventional.

The title of this magazine is wholly appropriate for its purpose, its content and to the unconventional radical political approach of Australia First Party.

The Origins of the Naming of this Magazine:

When it comes to choosing names for publications, there can be debates and even arguments. For the nationalists, the choice was easier.

When Australian nationalism re-emerged as an ideological and political trend in the life our country, a group of people had assembled in Sydney in the period 1977-1978 to advance the cause. A discussion occurred to name a publication such that we had political currency and a reference point.

One of the members had previously approached Australia’s legendary Jack Lang in early 1975 to discuss the labourist origins of nationalism and the significance of the great White Australia Policy.

Jack Lang MP, Premier of New South Wales, in office from 1925 to 1927 and again from 1930 to 1932.

Jack published his ‘The Century’ and was conducting a mighty rearguard fight for these principles. He offered the young man a role as an editor and admonished him that he write for the new generation which had to take up the torch. But before the matter matured, Jack passed away and so the matter lay dormant.

However, we were told that in one of their discussions Jack Lang said:

“we need a magazine with the audacity to speak the unpleasant truth to our people”.

So with no further ado, the magazine became Audacity! And so it still is!

AUDACITY! magazine – a brief history:

AUDACITY! magazine, being the party’s official magazine, covers issues associated with Australian nationalism, AFP news and political campaigning, matters concerning Australia’s sovereignty and otherwise relevant topics raised by our party members.

This magazine is entirely Australian nationalist!

It is prepared, contributed to and edited voluntarily by our party members and was traditionally offered in print form in A3 broadsheet size) at $2.50 per copy (to help cover the printing cost) and sold to our members and to the interested Australian public alike.

We now offer it as important archive freely on this website for download and printing (in most issues) to supporters and readers of our party and this website.  This means that it is being subsidised by Australia First Party.

The magazine was generally published on a semi-seasonal basis when member volunteer time permits and once a number of newsworthy articles have been provided to the magazine’s editor and collated with sufficient content to enable a 4 to 8 page issue.
